Altitude :- Wan Village -2520 m
Time Taken :- 8 – 8 1/2 hours .
Today none of us was in a hurry
to wake up early. Around 7 am I came out from the fiber hut to just have a
morning view around pathar-nauchani camp as it offers some magnificent and awe-inspiring
vistas surrounding it. It was a sunny day so I took out my shoes outside to dry
up as they were fully wet due to snow. I sat on a big boulder there to feel the
undisturbed serenity of the surrounding landscapes and breath-taking view of
snow-capped peaks.
Suddenly I noticed some villagers down below the PN camp as
they were digging and searching something inside the snow soaked soil. My
curiosity arises on watching the whole scene and on further investigation I
found that they all were looking for KEEDA-JADI which is a medicinal plant
having high demand in both pharmaceutical companies and black market. As the
name suggests it’s a medicinal fungus/plant (JADI) grows on the back of a dead
insect exclusively found in this region. They are generally found at the higher
altitudes of Himalayas. Due to its high medicinal property and capability of
inducing fertility in humans made it cost ten’s of thousand to lakhs for just a
kg of keedajadi. China has a huge market for this. Aah, I just discovered the real reason for the increasing population
of china. :p

Pathar Nauchani campsite |
After having breakfast we started to trek
towards WAN village via bedni bugyal and ghairoli paatal. This time instead of
didina village we took another route to reach lohajung via wan village. This
route is considerably shorter and also there is a motor-able road to lohajung
village.
Views of Bednikund (Return journey) |
After bedni bugyal one has to take the top right trail from the bedni
bugyal campsite to reach wan village.
For here at starting it was a gentle plain
trek for about half an hour and then the
trail separates into two. One moves further ahead the original trail while another
descended just near a small religious settlement of stone idols and colorful
flags.
Take the descended trail which is a zigzag path
passes through a thick covering of mixed forest of oak and rhododendron tress.
From it took 2-3 hours for us to reach at the bottom of cliff near a bridge
built upon neelganga river. In between you can also finds a another beautiful
campsite gharoli pataal on the way.

Neelganga River |
We didn’t stay much there. Neelganga is a good point where you can have some
peaceful rest and can wash off your dirt of week long trek. After almost one
week I washed off all dirt from my legs. After neelganga river it was now one
final ascend for around 20 minutes till you reach on the top near a concrete
road. Take a left and start walking towards wan village and then there is
gradual never ending :p descend to the jeep stand down below at kasarbagad.
From here we booked a jeep till lohajung which took another one hour.
En route to Wan Village |
We reached lohajung at around 6 pm .
Today is indeed a lucky day for us as we
had trekked for almost 8 hours and still we all were fine ,no injuries, no leg
pain, no cramps at all. Its just we are super exhausted and we just need a
tight sleep now. Luck continues to bestow its blessings upon us as we got in
contact with a jeep driver who was planning to left for Haldwani next morning.
Great, what else we could possibly wish as we got a direct ride to haldwani and
now its no need to change multiple vehicles. Next morning everything happened
according to the plan and we all reached haldwani safely. From here after
bidding farewell to my trekking friends I took a bus from bus stand to Delhi. Sometimes
I really felt blessed and fortunate to be able to travel with those two wonderful
human beings Prashant and Gaurav. THANKS GUYS (Y)
Note:- oh I forget to mention that do carry
sunscreen and cold-cream lotions with you for such kind of expeditions as
without them I got a hell lot of snow tanning on my face. My whole face becomes
red and skin was peeling off for atleast one week after the summit. So better
took precautions before anything bad happens. :p
Thank You So Much .!!
